The PJL Group is leaping ahead in the safety stakes rolling out the ultimate safety feature in Man Basket Crush Protection.
PJL Group Operations Manager Engineering, James Monaghan, explained the innovation was a two-fold safety design.
“In the first instance it is designed to saves lives as an actual physical preventative safety mechanism,” James said.
“It also provides an evidence based reporting system which improves incident reporting and ultimately long-term work safety improvements.
“The Crush Protection Mechanism features a post with a shear pin which is designed to fail when pressure is applied to the tip, there is a green indicator on the post that will be covered by the tip when the shear pin fails.
“New shear pins can be stocked and simply replaced after each incident/occurrence. If they are a store stock item, then each pin that is booked out will be evidence that an incident has occurred making it easily recordable.
“We can build new or retro-fit to existing baskets following an assessment of their condition. The location of the mechanism also has flexibility and can accommodate various work area positions.
“I think PJL Group has once again provided an important solution to a real problem for the industry. I know we can make a tangible difference to the safety of these workers with this significant innovation.”
