Ensuring fit for purpose facilities

20 Feb 2015

PJL Group are busy getting ready to move into their new mechanical facility at Leewood Estate in Orange. To ensure a fit-for-purpose facility, the Orange based team recently undertook a productivity improvement session focusing on streamlining workshop processes and reducing inefficiencies.

“The new Leewood facility is a ‘blank canvas,’ providing a great opportunity to improve our processes across the board. The key focus during these sessions was on a core group of managers and supervisors who were involved to ensure productivity is driven from the workshop floor.” Asset Manager, Clayton Maynard said.

Set to open in April 2015, the new mechanical facility has been built next to the existing engineering facility to form a more cohesive working environment for the whole team. This not only centralises PJL’s operations, it also enhances PJL Group’s ability to offer a one-stop-shop.

“The primary purpose of amalgamating the two sites is to increase our efficiencies and productivity so it made sense to undertake the productivity improvement sessions to nail down our processes.” Clayton continued to say.

PJL Group’s focus during the amalgamation of the two sites is workplace morale and productivity of the whole team.

“We believe that in order to achieve our status as an employer of choice, we need to be providing a fit-for-purpose working environment. This also reduces our inefficiencies and helps us to remain competitive in a tough economic environment.” Clayton said.
