Earlier in the year, PJL Group appointed a new Site Services Coordinator to be the driving force behind an ongoing presence on-site. Doug Thorpe is at the helm of the shut-down crew, dedicated to driving the team, facilitating communication and allowing them to focus on PJL Group's core business.
This position came to fruition from the growth of the shut-down crew, which subsequently increased the man hours on-site. The team are now running like a well maintained machine, increasing efficiencies and reducing down times.
"One of the initiatives I set in place was a pre-shut and post-shut meeting, with a significant focus on safety and incident reduction. This also encourages feedback from our team, which has been really positive." Doug explained.
PJL Group now are serving ore handling systems, crushers, apron feeders and anything in between at Cadia Valley.
"We are now also completing a broader scope of works with a greater involvement in critical path works. The feedback from both Newcrest and PJL Group has been positive, it's fantastic." Doug continued to say.
