PJL Group recently hosted students from CSU for a workplace visit. The 4th year Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) students visited as a part of an Occupational Physiotherapy subject. This is the second time PJL Group have hosted students from CSU, giving them first-hand experience and insight into the scale of work to better understand potential injuries.
Occupational Physiotherapy involves taking the knowledge you have as a physiotherapist and applying it directly to the workplace. This visit was designed to enable students to directly observe a workplace environment, including working postures, forces, work rates, environmental factors and also manual handling demands of the work tasks. This allows them to opportunity to better determine why someone may present with a particular issue, problem or workplace injury.
"The students showed a high level of interest, and were in awe of the scale of our business and how heavy the machinery is that we are working with on a day to day basis. It provided them with a great opportunity to combine theory with "the real world" and gain a better understanding of how Physiotherapists are involved in injury management." Nick McDonald said.
